Biologia-vida | Video: echinopsisfreak |
All plants of the video belong to the genus Echinopsis sp., family Cactaceae; The majority of these plants are adapted to hot and dry climate (xerophyte) , and have modified structures different from what we're used to: chlorophyll and stoma instead of being located in the leaves are in the stem, where photosynthesis and breathing occurs. The leaves are modified in the famous cactus thorns, thus preventing water loss and helping to keep away some larger predators.
