Bicho-pau-azul / Blue walking stick insect (Achrioptera fallax)

 Bicho-pau-azul (Achrioptera fallax) nativo de Madagascar. Os machos chegam a medir  13 cm, têm uma cor profunda azul, com espinhos da cor laranja e são braquípteros (possuem asas vestigiais que não servem para voar), enquanto as fêmeas são maiores, medindo cerca de 18 cm e são amarronzadas. Se alimentam de folhas de algumas árvores, como Eucalipto e carvalho.

Blue walking stick insect (Achrioptera fallax) native to Madagascar. The males measure up to 5 inches, have a deep blue color with orange thorns and are brachypterous (have vestigial wings that are incapable to fly), while females are larger, measuring about 8 inches and are brownish. They feed on the leaves of some trees, such as eucalyptus and oak.
