Grande Turaco Azul (
Corythaeola cristata) encontrado em diversos países da África. É uma ave m,uito grande, chegando a medir cerca de 80 cm e pesar mais de um quilo, se alimenta de frutas principalmente, mas pode complementar a alimentação com insetos e gastrópodes (como lesmas). Apesar de poderem voar majestosamente, eles preferem se locomover pelo chão, com pernas fortes para fugir de predadores e pular facilmente. As penas são muito coloridas, sendo a maior parte do corpo azul, pernas roxas com verde e o bico de um amarelo-vivo com a ponta vermelha, fazendo parecer que o animal está usando maquiagem. Não estão em risco de extinção, pois a população está com um crescimento constante e bem distribuída, mas a espécie é muito caçada para ser consumida sua carne e as penas são vendidas como amuleto de boa sorte.
Great blue turaco (Corythaeola cristata) found in several countries in Africa. It's a very large bird, sometimes measuring around 30 in and weigh over 2 lb, feeds mainly on fruits but can complete their diet with insects and gastropods (like snails). Although they can fly majestically, they prefer to walk around on the floor, with strong legs to escape predators and jump easily. The feathers are very colorful, with most of the body blue, purple and green legs and the beak of a bright yellow with red tip, making it appear that the animal is wearing makeup. They are not endangered because has a steady population growth and is well distributed, but the species is very hunted for it's flesh and feathers are sold as good luck charm.
