Besouro Girafa (Trachelophorus giraffa), endêmico de Madagascar, o pescoço estendido é uma adaptação utilizada por machos para disputas por fêmeas mas também auxilia na construção do ninho: quando chega o momento de reproduzir, a fêmea utiliza o pescoço para enrolar uma folha e em seguida ela deposita um único ovo dentro do tubo, quando a larva sai do ovo a folha em que ela está enrolada serve como primeiro alimento. São encontradas apenas em Madagascar devido uma interação espécie-especifica com a única árvore na qual vivem e da qual se alimentam (Dichaetanthera arborea) que também só é encontrada em Madagascar.

The giraffe weevil (Trachelophorus giraffa), endemic to Madagascar, the extended neck is an adaptation used by males in disputes for females and also assists in building the nest: when is time to reproduce, the female uses the neck to roll a leaf and then she lays a single egg inside the tube, when the larva hatches the leaf in which it is wrapped serves as the first meal. Are only found in Madagascar because a species-specific interaction with the tree in which they live and from which they feed (Dichaetanthera arborea) which also is found only in Madagascar.
