It is estimated that sharks kill in one year, around only 12 people worldwide, while about 100 million sharks (of all species) were killed in 2010, a number that seems to have remained in the following years. Remember that this estimate of 11 thousand per hour is not literally every day, but an average, taking the hunting seasons and distributing them throughout the year. Detail: many studies are raising this number that could reach over 200 million sharks killed each year. Without protection programs, many species could be extinct in a few decades.
