Sinai Baton Blue butterfly (Pseudophilotes sinaicus) found in Egypt, may be the smallest butterfly in the world, measuring only 0.4 inches of wingspan. Even being so small, the female can still lay 26 tiny eggs, each 0.5 millimeters, that will hatch in 21 days. Because they are so small, the adults are sedentary, and fly up to 50 meters until they land again (must be hard to fight any wind draft being this size). It is a critically endangered species due to habitat loss.
